Research on the Path to Improving Teaching Quality in Applied Universities

Abstract

Applied universities have the important mission of cultivating high-quality application-oriented talents, and supporting regional economic development and upgrading industries. These institutions, however, are currently grappling with practical issues of unrealistic educational objectives, lack of variety in educational programs, disjunction between theory and practice in talent cultivation and the lack of depth in industry-education integration. The structural contradiction between teaching quality and industrial development needs has become increasingly prominent. Based on the contemporary context and practical challenges of teaching quality improvement in applied universities, this paper proposes a systematic improvement path from five dimensions: first, solidifying the positioning of application-oriented education and reshaping the values of teaching quality improvement; second, establishing a dynamic mechanism of program adjustment to optimize the structural support for teaching quality improvement; third, deepening the reform of industry-education integrated curricula to strengthen the core processes of teaching quality improvement; fourth, constructing a "dual-qualified and dual-capable" faculty team to build talent foundation for teaching quality improvement; fifth, building a teaching quality assurance system to form a closed-loop mechanism for teaching quality improvement. The study puts forward the idea that the essence of teaching quality improvement in applied universities is to promote the shift of talent cultivation from "supply-driven" to "demand-driven". The key to this transformation is to regard the industrial demand as the starting point and take it as the direction to thoroughly combine the education chain and talent chain with the industrial chain and innovation chain.
